Kinja'd!!!

I made a mistake.

These are over-engineered as fuck. Also gaudy insert that don’t lock the hooks on my 36 year old pickup because mine aren’t long enough. The last pair I had on here had small housing and little tangs that locked in. But I have no idea how old those are.

Good thing I had some zip ties lying around.

[outraged gasps]

Hey, the work great though!

They should have different model wipers for different vehicles. I run these on everything from an ‘89 Foxbody to my ‘12 Focus.

Cost? I bought a $56 set of “Official Mercedes-Benz wipers” only to find out that they were these with itty-bitty MB logos inside of them.

Well like I said I’m the dunce here. The O’Reillys people basically had every and any 17" blade recommended for my vehicle.... sigh.

Autoparts stores are terrible for parts compatibility. Wierdly, they sometimes have old parts dirt cheap, but their catalogues are always inaccurate.

Ahh, yeah I know that pain. My Mazdaspeed 6 and Cobra both come up with the wrong parts 99% of the time. They especially don’t do well with sub-models that actually differ from the base-model. I gave up on their list long ago.

The best one is my Mazda shows a screw-on filter when its a cartridge. They try to tell me I have the wrong one everytime....

Back when I had no interest in cars at all, I went and picked up an air filter for my 22R pickup. What they gave me was a large square. I was like, “Isn’t this supposed to be bigger, and round, and a ring?” I was scoffed at, “I’m pretty sure I know.” They gave me a filter for a 22RE. The 22R is carbureted...

Last time I bought a wiper at a MB dealer it cost me something like 25 bucks and was the cheapest wiper I could find.

I had bosch wipers before, they didn’t last 6 months and they sucked.

I only drive this pickup maybe 5000 miles a year so they’ll last long enough I hope... how many miles do good wipers last anyway? I live in the PNW so I get lots or rain.

You’re in the PNW so they have to see a hard life. Rule of thumb was every year you should change them. I just prefer the Michelins. Simpler design and doesn’t chatter like a bunch of teenie boppers stuck on line at Starbucks.

Our wiper blades actually last longer than I experienced in SoCal (basically, if you see rain in the forecast, go buy a set, because there won’t be any left shortly after it starts and your blades are guaranteed to be toast (roughly every 6-12 months)). You see, it isn’t the rain that kills your wipers, it’s the sun.

On the other hand, tree sap and pine needles will take them out in no time. Don’t park under trees.

Another reason not to park under trees here: bird poop. There is a strip of parking along my property that no one will touch because, among other reasons, it will be covered in shit by 8am.

I forgot about that...

Birds get my dark car no matter where I park. If it is shiny and dark, it’ll get pelted. I’m constantly cleaning that car off. The Focus mainly gets it when it is really clean and waxed, but will still get the random hit.

We have worse bird poop problems than anywhere else I’ve ever lived...

I have Bosch wipers on my Xterra. There’s two grades, one called “Icon” and one called “Evolution”. Whichever ones are cheaper, are better. I had the expensive ones on my Xterra and they were amazing for about 10,000kms, then they completely stopped working. Bought the cheaper Bosch ones, and they’ve been mint for over 30,000kms.

Mine work on my e36 but not the ej civic. Might be a wiper arm problem though. * install fine but there is a spot where they streak *

To be fair, I have to get a Toyota rear wiper for mine. It costs over 40 bucks.

I’ve had pretty good luck with the rainx latitude wipers.

I think these things are supposed to be the bee’s knees. I think they’re a scam. 10x more expensive to replace than regular wiper blades, and for what? Most of the time the quality of the wipe is determined by foreign particles getting on the blade rather than the blade itself.

Also, being able to more easily and cheaply replace a wiper blade will ensure you have better condition blades on more of the time.

That said, I have these on my MR2 because the original arms were rusty and ruined.
